We are happy to announce that Corporación Cinememoria has opened submissions for the 10th Encuentros del Otro Cine ‘EDOC’ International Documentary Film Festival, to be held from May 12 to June 3, 2011 in Quito, Guayaquil and other Ecuadorian cities.
The regulations and the entry form are available here. The registration is free of charge and submissions should be made on-line.
For 2011, the festival is particularly looking for documentaries dealing with male domination and gender inequality; architecture, urbanism and housing; sexual diversity; films on the border between fiction and reality; documentaries made by filmmakers from India, and films dealing with any issue related to Ecuador.
Encuentros del Otro Cine takes place in several cities of Ecuador, since 2002. It is renowned for the quality of its program, its guests and the warmth of its audience.
The past festival attracted 15,000 spectators and screened 96 films from all over the world. EDOC’s program is divided into thematic sections, retrospectives, a panorama of the contemporary documentary production and a traditional section that shows films about Ecuador by national and international filmmakers.
The retrospectives screened at EDOC include the work of Patricio Guzmán, Jean Rouch, the Maysles brothers, Avi Mograbi, Johan van der Keuken, Lourdes Portillo, Ross McElwee, Sergei Loznitsa, Nicolas Philibert, Jay Rosenblatt and others.
