‘ABUELOS’ AND ‘STREETS’ SELECTED AT IDFA

Abuelos, by Carla Valencia Dávila, documentary voted as the audience favorite during the ninth edition of the EDOC Festival has been selected in the First Appearance category of IDFA, International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, the most important celebration of documentary films in the world.
The film that explores the personal history of the director’s grandfathers, an Ecuadorian doctor and a Chilean leftist militant, had its premiere at the EDOC. Both Carla Valencia, and the producer of the documentary, Alfredo Mora Manzano, have been active members of the festival’s team in recent years.
Alongside Abuelos, also an Ecuadorian short film represents the country in the Dutch festival: Streets by Victor Carrera, released in the last edition of EDOC and audience favorite short film, portrays the lives of street children who survive in the extreme conditions that the city puts them into. The film, whose title in Spanish is ‘En mi tribuna’, will be shown in the Kids&Docs section.
Both documentaries that premiered at EDOC will be presented in The Netherlands from the 17th to the 28th of November. For this edition of IDFA 3200 films were submitted and around 280 were chosen for exhibition.
In addition, the artistic director of the festival, María Campaña Ramia, and the festival producer, María José Elizalde, will attend IDFA representing EDOC.
