About Encuentros del Otro CIne ‘EDOC’

The festival Encuentros del Otro Cine (Encounters of the Other Cinema) seeks to promote freedom of speech and the development of Ecuadorian documentary cinema which plays a double role: a means of artistic expression and a testimony of the social, political and cultural reality we live in. The festival also encourages a deeper understanding of other realities and cultures that are presented through the work of documentary filmmakers from all over the world.

About Cinememoria

The Cinememoria Corporation was created in 2002 seeking to promote documentary cinema and the conservation of the audiovisual patrimony of Ecuador. In April 2002, Cinememoria organized the I International Documentary Film Festival Encuentros del Otro Cine EDOC (Encounters of the Other Cinema) in the cities of Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. Since then, the festival is done annually and congregates an audience of nearly 15 thousand spectators.

Our team

The team that organizes the EDOC works throughout the whole year in order to offer the Ecuadorian public the best cinema of reality. About 50 collaborators join during the months prior to the festival.
